Exciting internship opportunity with a fast growing company pioneering innovative private-public partnerships to finance clean energy and water conservation measures for commercial properties nationwide. Our public-private partnership financing program is based upon a new financing technology called Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE), which has been adopted in 33 states so far. Located on the Sausalito waterfront, our corporate team is comprised of collaborative, industry leaders in solar, energy efficiency, commercial real estate, and structured finance.

CleanFund Commercial PACE Capital, Inc. is looking for an intern to join our Program Development team and work directly with the CEO. This internship program is designed for public-policy focused graduate or undergraduate students who are considering a career in environmental policy, economics, law or energy finance. The Intern will assist in researching, recording and evaluating various PACE program guidelines across the country. The goal of this work is to ensure that the company’s database of information is current, in addition to identifying opportunities for collaboration and sales origination between the Program and Business Development departments of the Company.

The internship program offered is intended to accelerate the learning and development process by providing a strong foundation upon which to build the candidate’s career. As an Intern, they will also partake in making recommendations and presentations to senior executives.

Qualifications

This internship is designed for graduate or undergraduate students in a public policy-related discipline with a strong academic background.

1. At least two years of undergraduate work completed, preferably in political science, public policy, communications or a related field.
2. Highly qualified candidates will have some background in some customer facing roles, such as retail sales, marketing or customer service.
3. Ability to understand the legislative process at a state and municipal level.
4. Experience as a research assistant for a professor or other academic with some data management experience.
5. Interest in the policy implications of clean energy, structured finance, or commercial real estate.
6. CleanFund is based in Sausalito, and the candidate must have a tolerable commute; possible telecommuting schedule can be considered.

Intern Participation

1. Gather results of research related to various PACE programs and assist in improving CleanFund’s proprietary database of nationwide PACE programs.
2. Participate in conference calls, webinars and virtual meetings with local jurisdictions and program administrators.
3. Develop relationships with current PACE program administrators, as well as seek out new ones in emerging state and municipal geographies.
4. The Intern may be able to assist in the planning of a PACE conference to be held in San Francisco in early 2017.
5. The intern will be supervised by a professional with expertise and educational background in the area of structured finance, in addition to working closely with a team member with deep public policy background.
